“Shilajatu” latin name Asphaltum punjabinum is mentioned in the Indian system of medicine years ago i.e. around 3200 years in charak samhita for general health and as a rasayan and vajikaran dravya amd in texts written after charak samhita i.e. in sushrut samhita and ashtang hrydhyam it has been mentioned for diabetes and other diseases as well as rasayan and vajikarnak dravya.

In India, Shilajit is mostly found in mountain ranges between sargu and ramagangavin uttrakhand in ranges godhwal, gangotri, jamunatri and mostly in nepal “ jamula hathela mountain ranges” and in bhutan.

Benefits of shilajatu

  • Male infertility and testosterone: Being a rasayan and vajikarak, shilajit is very beneficial in increasing fertility.

As known as study was conducted where around 100 infertile men were given shilajit for about 90 days, twice a day. It was observed that more than half of the men who were using shilajit after the trial period and who finished the whole treatment appeared to have an increase in testosterone levels.
